Prices are the entry list prices each vendor publishes on its own US pricing page, read on Oct 27, 2026. They exclude taxes, payment processing unless stated, hardware, add-ons and negotiated discounts; a promotion appears only in the notes, labeled as one. Prices change. No vendor paid for a place or a price in this table.

Both products serve small and mid-sized businesses, often on QuickBooks Online, and both handle expenses. The difference is what surrounds the expense. BILL Spend & Expense sits next to BILL's accounts payable, with card controls and expense workflows in the same family. Expensify sits around the expense report: receipts, submission, approval and repayment.

Verdict: follow your accounts payable

If BILL already pays your suppliers, choose BILL Spend & Expense. Keeping cards, expenses and bills with one vendor and one approval culture beats adding a separate expense tool.

If you do not use BILL, or if most of your spend is employees paying personally and claiming it back, choose Expensify. It is the more specialized tool for that job.

Why BILL Spend & Expense wins for BILL users

One vendor relationship, if your payables already run in BILL. BILL's QuickBooks Online integration page lists records syncing from QuickBooks to BILL, such as accounts, classes, customers and items, and from BILL to QuickBooks, such as vendors, bill payments, classes and vendor credits, and states that Spend & Expense syncs with QuickBooks Online too. For a team already working that way, cards can slot into a familiar process; whether Spend & Expense and BILL's payables share the same supplier list and approval setup is not documented on that page, so have it demonstrated.

Ask one question in the demo: the integration page does not document how individual card transactions post or how sync errors are handled, so have that shown with your own chart of accounts.

Why Expensify wins on reimbursement

Expensify Classic's QuickBooks Online export settings are specific: reimbursable reports export as vendor bills, checks or journal entries, company card expenses export individually or as one vendor bill per report, classes and customers come across as tags or report fields, and reimbursement status syncs both ways. A team that repays employees every week benefits from that control over how each claim lands in the books.
